Four tips to be Healthier and Happier at Work

Staying healthy is not just something you get done in the one hour at the gym. If you are like most working mothers you can spend a large portion of your day at the office, so best you make sure that you are doing those little things that can help to keep your stress levels down, keep you healthier and ultimately keep you happier.

Stand up

Desk jobs are dangerous – too much sitting has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity and mortality. Regular movement boosts your metabolism and increases healthy cholesterol.

Coffee really does speed things up

Have you heard the expression “Time flies when you are …….at the office“? Not likely!!! Well studies have shown that Coffee, even the smell of it, helps make time seem like it was zipping by roughly 14% faster than it actually was.

Make a Lunch date with Mother Nature

To slash stress during the workday make sure that you get outdoors. Spend your summer lunch hours in a park, or nip off to the beach for a quick swim – it has been shown to increase your immune function by reducing stress and increasing levels of your body’s natural killer cells that defend against viruses and summer colds!

Hit Happy Hour

Working late all the time could be a mental health hazard. New research by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health tracked a group of workers in Britain over several years and found that regularly spending more than 11 hours a day on the job doubled the employees chances of a major depressive episode! Make after work plans and stick to them
