Finding a Job
Technology Enabling Virtual Call Center Jobs
The most successful organizations are always looking to harness the best and most talented resources available. At the same time in recent years we have seen many companies outsourcing their customer service offshore. While this has allowed upfront cost savings, it has come at a price, not just in terms of our economy and jobs, but also in the level of customer support that companies provide.
There is plenty of talk about the new economy and how social and mobile technology is changing the game for everyone. These days technology has allowed many people to work remotely and improve their quality of work life balance. One of the areas that we are really excited about when it comes to technology innovation is the Virtual Call Center. Anyone who has ever worked in a call center environment will be familiar with the role that technology plays in providing access to customer information, transferring calls and providing tracking and metrics, as well as allowing supervisors and managers to support and coach their team members. Some companies have great systems in place that help to ensure a smooth customer experience way beyond their competitors that may be outgunned in the technology arena.
GajGal is really excited to be partnering with Arise, not just because they have some of the best Virtual Call Center technology around, but because they share our vision that to be successful in the future companies will need to become way more flexible and take full advantage of virtual resources regardless of where those resources reside. This flexibility and the ability to deliver high quality customer service from remote locations is why so many Arise agents are entrepreneurial stay-at-home-moms.
We believe that in the future more and more workers will embrace the flexibility that they gain through contracting out their services (see our article “Contracting on Steroids”), and we see the Arise “Independent Business Owner” model as a great blueprint for how working moms can take control of their own destiny.
For sure working for a big company that takes care of everything in your life and provides benefits and support that you never have to worry about would be great, but those positions are fast becoming a thing of the past. GajGal exists to help working moms navigate the changing workplace with access to flexible work options as well as security of knowing that you have access to member Benefits and community support. Even though it might be daunting to set up initially, in this new world of work we believe that working moms should look at ways to establish their own company or legal entity because of the flexibility opportunities that it provides when it comes to contracting for work and dealing with expenses.
The model that Arise uses aligns with this approach, requiring their agents to be committed independent contractors who invest time into getting trained and meeting professional standards of a proper remote working environment. In the “work from home” market there are plenty of fly by night companies that require your money upfront and don’t deliver, and we encourage our members to always be skeptical. When we decided to partner with Arise we did a lot of research, the company contracts with thousands of small businesses to provide sales, customer service, and technical support from home, for Fortune 150 companies such as AAA, Intuit and Sprint.
If you are looking for a regular “employee” job just working out of your house this will not be for you, but if you either already have the skill set and confidence that you can deliver, or are committed to learn, and are willing to invest the time, the opportunities are endless. Many of the working mothers contracted with Arise have chosen not just to deliver support, but to take a much more entrepreneurial approach and partner with Arise as a small business to provide teams of service professionals under their own structure.
In the next couple of weeks we will share some great stories about working mothers that have taken the challenge of a new way of working to a whole new level:
