6 Tips to Re-Focus Tired Eyes

Your eyes start burning, a headache is forming and your neck is beginning to tense you may not realize it but these are common symptoms of eye strain.

Other symptoms of eye fatigue include; dry eyes, watery eyes, itchy or burning eyes, blurred or double vision, headache, difficulty focusing, sore neck, back or shoulder pain, heavy eyelids and tired or sore eyes.

Here are some quick tips to help you refocus tired eyes

  1. Take Frequent Breaks – The trick is to change your depth of focus to allow your yes to rest.
  2. Drink Plenty of Water – Air conditioning and open windows can contribute to dehydration which in turn can result in painful dry eyes.
  3. Wear Sunglasses – Make sure that you buy sunglasses that provide 100% protection against ultraviolet (UV) rays.  Ideally they should also be polarized and have brown tint or mirrored lenses.
  4. Wear Proper Eyewear - Make sure your eyeglass or contact lens prescription is up to date.  Ask for anti-reflective coating on your glasses for clearer sharper vision.
  5. Invest in Prescription Sunglasses – If you wear prescription glasses, ask your optometrist to recommend a high quality and comfortable brand that’s right for you.
  6. Don’t “Press On” – If you are experiencing the symptoms of eye strain take a break and give your eyes time to rest.
